PAD London - 2017
London, UK
An eclectic concept, in balance between past and present, characterizes the setting curated by Nina Yashar for the 2017 edition of PAD London. A selection of precious vintage furniture by Brazilian design masters - current of great historical importance, to which the gallery owner has been paying particular attention to this part for some years - converses with some prominent contemporary designers linked to the gallery, to create a domestic scenario refined and welcoming.
The heart of the exhibition is an important table by Osanna Visconti di Modrone, whose bronze surface is elegantly dressed with the new set created by the architect Roberto Baciocchi, where design meets high craftsmanship and goldsmith's art: a collection composed from what the architect calls "table episodes", which is characterized by a refined variety of precious materials, such as silver, mother of pearl, hard stones and gold, and a versatile combination of stylistic references. Far from being only functional, the lighting is entrusted to the sculptural creations of the Fontana Amorosa series by Michael Anastassiades, and to the curious shapes of the Arch wall lamp and the pair of Temple oil lamps by Bethan Laura Wood. The set is enriched by creations by Andrea Branzi, Francesco Faccin, Caturegli Formica, Martino Gamper, Studio Glithero, Massimiliano Locatelli, Amy Lowry and Norberto Nicola.
