Nilufar Depot - DESIGN WEEK 2017
The central aisle of the Nilufar Depot, in the new installation created by Nina Yashar, is a majestic setting for the staging of original interactions between historic design pieces and contemporary projects. White ribbons on the floor suggest the ideal spaces of an imaginary layout on which to place a large one-off bookcase by Anna Castelli Ferrieri, ornamental vases in Florentine terracotta from the 17th century, a pair of beds by Carlo de Carli, and furnishings that take turns on the stage of the grand theatrical mechanism known as Nilufar Depot.
This year there are over 40 pieces, furniture and lights produced as editions by the gallery, including works by 12 new designers who have interpreted the personality of the Nilufar collection for the first time. Every creation has been chosen for its unique character, often enhanced by new technologies and research in the field of unusual materials, giving the projects not only great aesthetic and artistic value, but also a remarkable level of functional innovation.
